The spooky season is here, and so is my round-up of some of the best unmissable Halloween events in the North East
Me & who?
Psycho Path at Lintz Hall Farm
When: 27 September – 1 November
Price: From £35
If you haven’t been to Psycho Path before, trust me, you have to go this year. It’s the perfect night out for those who enjoy some spooky fun and aren’t too afraid to walk through haunted houses, get chased by little monsters who look like characters from The Hills Have Eyes, and watch a hot entertainment show.
Now, a little advice to those who haven’t been to Psycho Path before: if you ignore them, they tend to leave you alone… eventually. Thank me later!
Pumpkin Picking at Brocksbushes Pumpkin Patch
When: 11, 12, 17 – 31 October
Price: £3
No autumn without it – pumpkin picking at Brocksbushes Farm is back, and this year it’s bigger, brighter, and better than ever. Think more photo opportunities for the ’gram (I’m talking giant pumpkin trees, a pumpkin house, and so much more), pumpkin carving, plenty of food options, thrilling rides, a maze, and that’s not even it. You’ll just have to go and experience it for yourself!
Sip & Paint Pumpkin Edition in Ouseburn
When: 11 October
Price: £16.96
Time to sip on some good old PSL and get creative with this fun and fresh workshop in Ouseburn (53 Lime Street). Come with a friend or solo and spend an hour or two painting your own mini ceramic pumpkin/tea light holder. So wholesome, so dreamy.
LUSH Sunderland Halloween Black Paper Rose Crafting Workshops
When: 12, 19 October
Price: From £10
You already know that LUSH is the place where shopping is never just that, it’s a full-on experience, and this workshop is no exception. You’ll get to create a crepe paper rose, which makes for the most romantic little gift for your loved one. And that’s not all! You’ll leave with a bath bomb that will transform your bath into a deep red wine colour. Sign me up!
Scream at Eatflix
When: 13, 19 October
Price: £75
There’s just absolutely no way I’d write this Halloween events in the North East round-up without including Eatflix. It’s their first Halloween since opening, and you best believe they’ll go above and beyond to serve you the most creative, delicious meals while you enjoy this cult classic. By the way, is it just me, or is Ghostface kind of… hot? Maybe leave your boyfriend at home for this one.
Chillingham Castle Ghost Tour
When: 15, 29 October
Price: £25
Speaking of boyfriends, you might want to bring yours to this one – it’s your chance to get to the bottom of all the spooky secrets of Chillingham Castle. Wander through creepy chambers and winding staircases while trying to spot a ghost or two. You might be lucky, as Chillingham Castle boasts some of the highest levels of paranormal activity in the country. Happy hunting!
Adult Pumpkin Painting & Doughnut Decorating at Deep North Newcastle
When: 24 October
Price: £15
Nothing screams Halloween and getting into the spirit of the spooky season like a good pumpkin painting and doughnut decorating class. Taking place at the Dean Street location of Deep North Café, this is a great way to spend an hour or two sipping on fizz (or a coffee!) and munching on a doughnut, while decorating a pumpkin to take home and admire. Don’t miss it!
Halloween Evening at Beamish Museum
When: 27, 29, 31 October
Price: adult ticket: £24; children £15
I know I tend to leave family fun out of my round-ups, but this one will be perfect if you do have little ones. Wander around the spooky Edwardian streets of Beamish, have a little treat from the Jubilee Sweet Shop, and don’t forget the chilling fairground rides. This year, Beamish will be screening Halloween classics in their 1950s Grand Cinema before all the Halloween fun begins, so this is your chance to rewatch some oldies but goldies!
