Ah, my favourite time of the year is nearly here and guess what, there are so many fun things to do this March in the North East!
After what feels like months of heavy rain, we finally get a glimpse of brighter days ahead. I love spring for this very reason. It’s like we’re all coming out of our seasonal depression and starting to look forward to all the fun things the North East has to offer this March. Musicals, markets, beach yoga – take your pick!
TINA – The Tina Tuner Musical at Newcastle Theatre Royal

There’s no one quite like her – Tina Turner is coming to Newcastle Theatre Royal to tell her story through music. From her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to becoming an award-winning global superstar, this musical tells the story of a woman who conquered the world against all odds. Truly iconic.
Wine Tasting at Ernest, Ouseburn

Because who could say no to a wine evening? This event will be led by sommelier Eve Kossman, who will showcase some fabulous wines and tell the story of how each bottle came to be. Expect some delightful nibbles from Ernest’s kitchen and the chance to buy a bottle you love.
International Women’s Day Film Festival at Tyneside Cinema

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – you guys need to show more love to our iconic Tyneside Cinema. For example, did you know that it was recently recognised as one of the best cinemas in the UK? That’s right! So grab the girlies and watch some brilliant films by female voices from the North of England. Your donation will go towards supporting YWFA to give more opportunities in film and TV for young women and girls in the North East.
International Women’s Day Market at Ouseburn

No better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than browsing around a market and supporting some incredible female businesses. There will be skincare, clothing, vintage, art, crafts, jewellery, and so much more. Eeek, I’m so excited!

Milly Thompson: My Body Temperature Is Feeling Good at BALTIC

This BALTIC exhibition by Milly Thompson blends irony and sincerity in artworks that explore romantic novels and summer holidays as forms of escapism and self-reinvention. Expect to see plenty of representations of the female body in its most liberating form. It’s said to be an exhibition for the female gaze, and I’m so here for it.
