That’s right – my favourite month is here, and with it comes a plethora of things to do this June in the North East
I don’t really care what anyone thinks – 1 June marks the start of summer for me. Sunny days, clear blue skies and green, green grass (does anyone get my Paul Breach reference?)
Anyway! Here’s what’s on this June in the North East…
Sunderland Food and Drink Festival
When: 6 – 8 June
Price: Depends on what you buy!

What a way to kick off the month! Sunderland Food and Drink Festival will be taking over the city centre with a mix of street food stalls, live music, and cookery demos. Think everything from loaded burgers and woodfired pizzas to cute market treats you definitely don’t need but will 100% end up buying.
Summer Wine Tasting at The Biscuit Factory
When: 6 June
Price: £35
Don’t mind if I do! Jesmond Wine Company is inviting all wine connoisseurs to sip their way into summer by spending an hour or two in the company of over 100 handpicked bottles, experts, friends and good energy. This, with the added bonus of a 10% discount on any bottles you fall in love with during the evening.
Craft Mooket at Wylam Brewery
When: 8 June
Price: £2
If you’re after a Sunday that ticks all the boxes (crafts, food, drinks, and a laid-back energy), then the Craft Mooket at Wylam Brewery is calling your name. Happening on Sunday, 8 June, this indie market will showcase plenty of local talent, featuring everything from handcrafted jewellery and homeware to unique art pieces and more!
Prick Your Own Fruit at Brocksbushes Farm
When: Mid June
Price: £2

How wholesome is this?! The 2025 PYO season is kicking off around mid-June, offering a lovely opportunity to gather your own fresh produce straight from the fields. This year, Brocksbushes has made fruit picking even more accessible by growing most of their 125,000 strawberry plants on raised tabletops, making it easier for everyone to join in the fun. Day date, anyone?
Anarchy Brew Co. Tour and Tasting
When: 13 June
Price: £22
I might be biased when I say this, but this one is so much fun! The tour kicks off with a welcome sample of one of their signature beers, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process and the brewery’s history. You’ll then head to the taproom to enjoy a glass (or, more like, five) of their diverse beer selection.
The Ouseburn Market

If you’re in the mood for a weekend of browsing and snacking (what could be better than that, really?), then The Ousburn Market is a must for you. Expect a curated mix of over 60 independent traders offering everything from handmade ceramics to vintage fashion and so much more!
The 192nd Durham Regatta 2025

If you’re after something a little different this June, the Durham Regatta is such a good shout. Expect two days of rowing races along the River Wear, loads of atmosphere, and plenty to keep you entertained, including street food, live music and classic cars. So even if boats aren’t usually your thing, you’re still promised a day of good fun!

Time to roll up your sleeves and eat your own pizza masterpiece (with prosecco in hand, obviously) at Blackfriars! Here you’ll learn how to make proper sourdough pizzas with all sorts of tasty toppings – sweet, savoury, and everything in between, guided by their expert baker. Dreamy, right?
The Hoppings at Town Moor
When: 20 – 29 June
Price: Free with individually priced rides

The Hoppings in back in Newcastle this June and I’m literally counting days! This year, the fair is back at full capacity, boasting over 400 rides and attractions stretching across a kilometre of the Town Moor. One standout is the new Drop Tower, the world’s tallest mobile free-fall ride, offering a heart-stopping 80-metre drop. Screaming, crying, throwing up (in a good way).
